Andrew asked the Prime Minister about media reports the Government would shortly announce reforms to gambling advertisements.
A great many Australians have lobbied tirelessly, and seemingly endlessly, for a gambling advertising ban. So you can imagine how interested the community is in today’s media report that the Government is set to announce some reforms.
To be clear, they are only a first step, because the Government’s proposal will only partly address just one of the 31 recommendations in the Murphy report.
So the Government clearly has much work still to do. If it calls the job done with just this proposal, it will just prove again that the Government remains scared stiff of the gambling and media companies, as well as the major sporting codes.
