“I hold out hope that the United Kingdom High Court of Justice will grant Julian Assange permission to appeal against his extradition to the United States of America.

“I have travelled from Australia as a Co-Chair of the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Group. I have come to bear witness to the terrible injustice that is being done to Mr Assange, and to convey the very strong belief from the Australian community that enough is enough.

“Last week in the Australian Parliament, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favour of my motion calling on the UK and the US Governments to bring this matter to an end and to let Mr Assange return home to Australia. This vote, supported by the Australian Prime Minister and his Cabinet, marked an unprecedented show of political support for Mr Assange by the Australian Parliament and echoes the sentiment in the Australian community that this has gone on for too long.

“Many millions of people around the world say enough is enough. The US must not continue to pursue Mr Assange, but instead drop all charges against Mr Assange, allow him to reunite with his family and to return to Australia.”
