Federal Independent Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie, joined fellow Tasmanian independents, Kristie Johnston MHA and Meg Webb MLC, to call on the Tasmanian Government to put a stop to the mistreatment of the Ashley Youth Detention Centre whistleblower known as Alysha.
“The State Government’s treatment of Alysha has been appalling,” Mr Wilkie said. “She has shown extraordinary bravery to come out and blow the lid on the scandalous treatment of the children at Ashley and should be lauded as a hero. That instead she’s seemingly being punished is wrong on every level and at odds with the Commission of Inquiry Act.
“No one should be punished for doing the right thing. The Premier needs to intervene and end this madness by sorting out Alysha’s workers compensation claim and letting her get on with her life.”
