Independent Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie, has welcomed $3.4m in Federal funding for the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre.
The City of Hobart secured the funding from the Building Better Regions Fund for a warm water therapy pool and better amenities for people with high needs.
“This funding is a great step forward for the upgrade of the Hobart Aquatic Centre,” Mr Wilkie said. “There’s a significant shortage of therapy pools in the Greater Hobart area and this grant will go some considerable way to plug the gap. It will help thousands of people improve their health and wellbeing. I’m proud to have been one of the voices pressing the Government for the funding.”
