Iran’s missile attack on US bases in Iraq was an inevitable consequence of US President Donald Trump’s deranged decision to assassinate Iranian General, Qassim Suleimani, in recent days. There’s nothing complex about this, it’s as simple as action-reaction. What’s needed now is for Washington to try and de-escalate the crisis by not responding to Iran’s highly provocative missile attack.

What’s also needed is for the Australian Government to wake up to the insanity of keeping Australian boots on the ground in the Middle East and to get them the hell out of there as quickly as possible.  These events are also a powerful reminder of the madness of Australia aligning with Trump and of the pressing need for us to adopt a more independent foreign and security policy.
