The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, in Question Time today secured a commitment from the Minister for Communications to provide timelines and other information for the thousands of people waiting to connect to the NBN in Hobart, Glenorchy and Taroona.
Mr Wilkie welcomed Malcolm Turnbull’s commitment to provide detailed information about when suburbs in Denison can expect the NBN.
“Like many people in Denison I am very frustrated with the problems that have plagued the NBN rollout and the seemingly glacial pace of installations,’’ Mr Wilkie said. “But the Minister seems genuinely determined to turn things around, albeit with inferior technology, and his focus on Denison in particular is heartening.
“Problems with the NBN rollout remain one of the most prevalent issues raised with me by constituents in the greater Hobart, Glenorchy and Taroona area. People have been promised the earth and let down time and again. They don’t want technological jargon or a blame game. They simply want and deserve an answer to the question of when the rollout will deliver the NBN to their home or business.’’
